The Old NBA

Damn, I miss competition like this in the NBA. There was so much more excitement about watching these guys compete against each other. Guys who have come so far with their individual teams to fight for the championship. The talent displayed in today’s NBA is arguably better, in regards to shooting and ball handling. But now it’s difficult to get invested in a team because franchises make drastic changes so fast.there were two teams that you could expect to win the championship. Either Golden State Warriors, or the Cleveland Cavaliers. After the free agency decision by Demarcus Cousins, anyone would be foolish to bet against the Warriors winning the championship. The whole idea of guys teaming up to win championships is causing the league to lose it’s competitive excitement. The NBA is becoming too predictable, it’s been that way for quite some time.

Just imagine if Allen Iverson were to join the Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’neal on the Los Angeles Lakers after losing in the Finals back in 2001. It’d be ridiculous! But now, that’s just the norm for today’s basketball.

“Everyone is joining super teams to get a championship because no one wants to retire a Charles Barkley.”

– Eddie Graham.

Is it just me, or do you guys feel like the upcoming NBA season will once again just be a formality for the Warriors to get through so they can sweep their way to the finals? While I do see other teams improving, such as the Rockets, Thunder, Sixers, and Celtics. Still, no one even comes close to being in a conversation about beating the Warriors. Does that predictability effect your interest in the NBA regular season & Playoffs?
